The Bunnies (learn to skate) program for Nepean Ringette will be divided into groups based on ability and the number of volunteers on the ice. Based on the Ontario Ringette Association’s Bunnies (learn to skate) program, learning basic skating skills will be taught first, then actual Ringette skills will be taught as the kids develop.
Ice times are either Friday evenings at the Walter Baker Sports Centre or Saturday mornings at the Nepean Sportsplex. Occasionally, ice times may be cancelled due to city ice contracts and tournaments. Notifications will be sent in advance of these cancellations.
Please note that full Ringette equipment is always required! This includes a mandatory CSA approved helmet with a proper Ringette face mask (hockey mask holes are too large and the end of a ringette stick may fit through). Please see the NRA Ringette Equipment Information page for details on required equipment.
All volunteers are required to wear a CSA approved helmet as well.
“Real” games are not played but there will be some mini games and scrimmages as the season progresses.
Bunnies (Learn to Skate) aged children who have played for 2 years, or have played one year and are 7 years old, may consider moving up to U8 if they have strong skating skills.
To register for the Bunnies (Learn to Skate) program go to the Nepean Ringette registration page.
