This Out-of-Association Player policy applies to tryouts and team formation for all AA and A teams hosted by the Nepean Ringette Association.
An “Out of Association” player is any player who, per ORA rules, requires a Release from another association to be eligible to register with and play for Nepean. This is usually, but not always,
- a player who resides within the geographic boundaries of and has played for another local association, or
- a player who resides outside the geographic boundaries of any association in Ontario and has played for a local association other than Nepean.
A “Relocated Player” is a player who has played for another association during the previous season and who has relocated from a residence outside the geographic boundaries of Nepean Ringette to one within the boundaries of Nepean.
“Out of Association” players may try out for any Nepean Ringette competitive team provided that they are properly registered with their home association and a valid and signed Tryout Release form is presented prior to going on the ice.
For AA teams, we select the best players available.
For A teams with more than 10 NRA members who are skaters (not goalies) in the tryout process, Out of Association players (skaters) must rank in the top half of the team to be selected.
For A teams with 10 or fewer NRA members who are skaters (not goalies) in the tryout process, Out of association players (skaters) must place in the top 75% of the team to be selected.
For purposes of this policy, a player who has relocated to Nepean and, per ORA rules, is eligible to file a “Player Relocation Form” will be considered to be a Nepean player.
This policy was approved by the Nepean Ringette Executive at a regular meeting on 07-Feb-2011. Updated in August 2014 to remove references to “Novice B”, which no longer exists.
Updated by the Nepean Ringette Executive at a special meeting on 04-May-2017 to make reference to number of skaters in the tryout process for A teams.
