Provincial Tryouts

U19A Team Update

This year Nepean intends to host one U19A team for the 2025/26 competitive season.

Note: If it is your intention to tryout and you have not already done so, please register your intent to tryout on the U19 Registration Form with the Eastern Ringette Association here: https://docs.google.com/forms/d/e/1FAIpQLSc6hrDdk3pG_jVeH15M-sCouybOwaPUpLfai7yHr2R7IHhsHA/viewform

If your circumstances have changed, and you no longer intend to try out with Nepean, please email competitive.director@nepeanravens.ca and let us know as soon as possible. This is critical information that we use for forming teams for intersquad scrimmages.

Out of Association Policy

At the U19A level Nepean will select the best players available, with the expectation that an Out of Association player is notably superior to any Nepean Ringette Association member being considered.

Players are entitled to tryout at two associations at the U19A level and Nepean Ringette does encourage players to do so.

Any player that played for Nepean Ringette in the 2024/2025 season will be treated as an in-association player, regardless of the player’s actual home club status. Please see section 2.11 of Ringette Ontario’s Athlete Release Policy for their “Current Club” rule.

Any player whose home association is not hosting a U19A team for the 2025/26 season will also be considered an in-association player with Nepean Ringette, if Nepean Ringette is selected as their 1st choice association.

If a Nepean Ringette player played for another association during the 2024/25 season that association is considered their current club. Those players will only be eligible to tryout for their home association (Nepean) and current association (Club played for in 2024/25) as their two tryout associations. Please feel free to email me at competitive.director@nepeanravens.ca if you have any questions about these rules.

Pre-Tryout Skates

Ice times have been offered for U19 throughout the summer to keep players on the ice. Additionally we do intend to offer ice over the weekend prior to tryouts for players who will be trying out with Nepean. The cost is included in the tryout fee. Please indicate on your registration form if you will be attending. Space will be limited to 30 skaters on a first come basis. Email confirmation of your spot will be sent once we reach the maximum number of participants you will be notified of your spot on a wait-list.

Equipment Requirements for Tryouts

During tryouts, no unique identifiers are allowed on any equipment.

  • No name bars on jerseys.
  • No specialty team pants (e.g., team Ontario pants) are to be worn. Only association pants or neutral pants are permitted.
  • All identifying stickers (e.g., Team Ontario stickers) on helmets should be removed or covered with tape matching the color of the helmet.
  • NRA tryout jerseys are mandatory and must be worn during all tryout sessions. If you require a set of tryout jerseys, they can be purchased for $50 during registration.

Any player with unique identifiers on their equipment will be asked to leave the ice and will not be evaluated until the identifying marks are removed. This is to ensure fairness and prevent any bias during the evaluation process.

Tryout Releases

The first release could take place after Tryout #1. There will be additional releases after all following tryout sessions. Emails will be sent to all players to confirm if they are proceeding or released.

Attendance Requirements

Other than the conditioning session, players are required to attend each tryout session and check in a minimum of 45 mins before start time. If a player is unable to attend a tryout session due to illness or cannot check in 45 mins in advance, they must notify the competitive director as soon as possible.

Conflicts: The Eastern Region tryout policy (http://easternregionringette.ca/page.php?page_id=89135 - lower part of the page) documents the rules that apply in cases of conflict. This applies to any player that is trying out to multiple associations, including those who are trying out at two associations that are not their home association based on the level not being offered.

If you are trying out for multiple associations and you have tryout sessions on conflicting evenings, please let us know as soon as possible. This helps us shape teams for intrasquad scrimmages. In addition, for sessions where we have two groups due to high numbers, we will do our best to accommodate players by placing them in an alternate group if possible.

Order of conflict goes to: Home Association, Current Association, Any Other Association. If Nepean is selected as your first choice on your intent form, as your association is not hosting a 19A team, then preference goes to Nepean first and then any other association selected.

Preferred / Most Comfortable Position: For intrasquad scrimmages, it’s helpful to know ahead of time what your player’s preferred / most comfortable position is.

Players will select their priority position when signing up on RAMP with Nepean. If your player has selected a second position, we cannot guarantee that we will be able to accommodate. Please ENSURE that your player picks the position they feel most comfortable trying out at.

NRA Competitive Contract

When registering for NRA U119 tryouts, prior to paying, the competitive commitment contract is to be read and signed.

NRA Tryout & Jersey Fees

Tryout fees are $100. If you require a set of NRA tryout jerseys, they can be purchased for $50 during registration. The NRA jerseys are mandatory for tryouts. Tryout fees must be paid in advance of the first session. If paying your fees using e-transfer, please include the player’s name and level in the comments.
